Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!

11/27
Berrie and family,
I only found this website today after hearing of your loss.  My husband, Carl, used to work with Owen at Consolidated Diesel.  He says Owen was a very likable guy and always smiled.  He says he had a great
personality.
Berrie, I went to high school with you and have said "Hi" in seeing you in Rocky Mount.  You always seemed to have such a sweet, loving spirit.  I am praying for you and your children.  I know Owen's pain and suffering are over and he is well and happy forevermore.  Take the grief one day at a time.  I am praying for you.  Take care of yourself and lean on others for support.
God is going to see you through.
Susan B.

11/23
Berrie and family,
You all are in our prayers. May you all continue to look to the Lord for your strength and let Him help you all
through this time of healing.  We love you and we will continue to pray for all of you.  Owen will be truly
missed.  He smile was one that no one can forget.
Don & Mary Ann Fisher

I know today (Thanksgiving) you didn't feel like you had much to be thankful for.  I thought of you Berrie,
the children, and Owen today and cried on the way to our Thanksgiving celebration-thinking of you.  I know that it was a gift & a blessing that you all had the chance to say what needed to be said. It sounds
cleche, but you all are in my thoughts and prayers!!

Owen,

I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed day.  May you be blessed. REMEMBER to pray. That's all you have to do.  Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive. There is no cost but a lot of reward. Make sure you pray, and pray believing that God will answer. May today be all that you need it to be. May the peace of God and the freshness of the Holy Spirit rest in your thoughts, rule in your dreams tonight and conquer all your fears. May God manifest himself today in ways that you have never experienced. May your joys be fulfilled, your dreams be closer and your prayers be answered. I pray that faith enters a new height for you; I pray that your territory is enlarged and I pray that you step into your destiny within the ministry. I pray for peace, health, happiness and true and undying love for God.

God bless you today and always,
Becky

11/4
Dear Owen and Berrie,
Frank and I are deeply sorry to hear of your illness. I looked at your photos which brought back some fond memories. I am saddened to learn that you have to go though this painful time. Yet, it sounds as if you all as a family will move forcefully to fight this insidious disease. I admire you for trying various treatments, etc. I pray that you will find one that works. I hope the benefit went well last night. Deb and Bryan are keeping me informed. Please know that you are in our prayers and thoughts.
Take care, sincerely,
Jackie Iler Debbie's Mom.
You have very nice looking children. ;-)

11/4
O.B.: The old photo (circa 1973) brought back a lot of memories. Keep the faith as I did when I beat the odds back in 1993 (brain aneurysm). Some say I act a little funny every now and then since the event, but others say I've acted funny most of my life!
Give us a holler next time you're in Florida. I'm in Melbourne on the east coast, just 45 minutes from Orlando.....a couple of miles from our old buddy Chris.
My family gives you and yours the best.

Hi Owen,
Wanted to share a message from Charles Stanley that I listened to on 11-19-06 (shortly after I was diagnosed with breast cancer. which gave me strength then and opened my eyes. My first questions was "Why me?"
- Here's the answer I received through this message:
GOD ALLOWS SUFFERING - to get our attention (Psalm 119:67, 71), To develop righteousness & maturity in our life, To prune our life so we can have a more fruitful life (John 15:1-2), To teach us obedience (Hebrews
12:5-6), To teach us to trust Him (1 Peter 1:7), To bring continous dependence in His grace & goodness, To manifest Christ's life & character in us, To purify our hearts, So we can share in the holiness of Christ
(Hebrews 12:10), To teach us to give thanks in everything (1 Thess. 5:18 "In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning YOU.", To teach character and perserverance (Romans
5:1-5), To enable us to share in the sufferings of Christ (Phil: 3:8-10), To prevent pride in our lifes, To broaden the ministry (Phil 1:12-13), To reveal the evil nature of mankind & the righteous judgment of God. ALL SUFFERING IS NOT THE RESULT OF SIN!  HE HAS A REASON IN YOUR LIFE -
"God whatever your purpose, give me the grace to bare this until your purpose is fulfilled!"

I hope this will help you understand and give thanks to God and to ask for His guidance through it all.

God bless,
Becky (Memorial Presbyterian)

Hey Owen,
Its Megan (Brenda's niece). Just wanted 2 let u know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hope that everything gets better for u soon and if u need anything just let me know.

10/16
My dear Owen,
You, Berrie and the kids are in our thoughts and prayers everyday. Live life with a joyful heart and remember that you are surrounded by family and friends that love and support you.   I smile everytime I think of
you and Bryan growing up. Such brats you two were, and always up to no good. Our families have been friends for a long time and we have shared a lot of fun times together. I know in my heart there will be many
more fun times ahead. Take care and get well. It's deer season and Essie Mae's house needs your presence and humor. You've got to keep Bryan in line so he doesn't have another run in with the game warden. When are you going to send my the picture?
I love you and I keep you close to my heart.
Dale

10/16
Owen, we sure did miss you last week while you were at the beach with Berry but were
glad that you had the opportunity to be with her and just relax and enjoy the time together.  Sorry to hear about all the bad luck you encountered (deer accident) and hope it is all straightened out soon.
Look forward to seeing you soon.

Hey Owen,

Douglas Pirkey here. It is great to be in touch with you! My wife, Joie, and I live here in Wisconsin.
We have three kids. Life is very good. My wife had two heart attacks in July of 2000. She was very ill
but September 30, 2001 God healed her! We had already made an appointment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN,
and even though she was obviously healed we kept the appointment. After the procedure our doctor reported
that my wife's heart had no damage and was functioning at "super normal" (the doctor's terminology) capacity.

I know these are tough times for you and yours. We will be praying for you. I'm coming to Rocky Mount
for Thanksgiving and I'd like to come see you. Remember, "Faith is the assurance of things hoped for,
the conviction of things not seen" (Hebrews 11.1). It was not our performance that was the focus of
and my faith but the Lord's. Try to let yourself rest in Jesus.

Douglas

10/11
You and Berrie and the children continue to be in our prayers.  Keep up the fight and know that the whole

Owen -
I have thought of you often since I learned of your diagnosis. I have lifted you and your family up in prayer. I was recently encouraged by the words of a cancer patient who said I don't tell my God how big cancer
is. I tell my cancer how big God is. I thought that was profound and I know you will find strength in Him.

Dear Owen,

Hi Owen
I wanted to share this scripture from Psalms 91 vs. 2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my
fortress:  my God; in him will I trust
vs. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy
shield and buckler.
God is our rock and fortress and protector, lean on Him for yourstrength....continuing to pray for you!

Owen, It's unfortunate that I haven't been able to spend as much time with you and your family (especially you and little Owen around the hunting club) as I would like to, with being in Raleigh and all.  I just wanted to let you know that I think about you every day and I think back to all the great memories we have shared
together.  Many of the best times I have had in my life have been with you and dad and little Owen, at Harkers Island, at the Hunting Club, and in the Mountains.  I have learned so much by being around you and dad.
I've always looked up to you both.  I wanted to let you know that you are in my prayers and I truly believe that everything is going to befine.  I hope to see you soon and please tell little Owen I said hello and tell him to give me a call sometime.

He is near and will continue to be through this. We love you both and we'll continue to pray ! We are only a

Hello Owen, Berrie, and the kids!
Owen, please know that there is not a day that goes by that you have not been on my mind.  When I was first told about your diagnosis I was really concerned about how you would handle the situation.  After meeting
with you one day at you job and we discussed this, my mind was put at ease.  Owen, you are a good person and a good friend with phenomenal courage.  I truly believe that with your drive, the love of your family and friends, and many outpouring prayers that anything is possible.
PLEASE hang in there and call us if there is anything that you need or to just talk.  Gail, RJ, and Laney said to tell you hello and that they are thinking of you as well.  We will definitely keep you, Berrie, and the kids in our thoughts and prayers.
With love, Ronnie, Gail, RJ, and Laney

Owen,
Some crazy woman from North Carolina, (she might be your sister Susan), has made you and your struggle  know to serveral of us here at a tiny Episcopalian Church in beautiful, friendly, New Jersey.  You are in
our thoughts, and our prayers.  When you get better, you'll need to come up here and have some bbq.  I know all yall (that's the plural of 'yall') down there think you can do justice to a dead pig, but Memphis style is the way to go.

So, hang in there.  Keep the wind at your back, and your eye on the horizon.

Best Regards.

Dear Brother Owen,
We do not know each other but we are family by God's grace.  You are now known by others are far as Vero Beach, Florida.  I pray that our Wonderful, Gracious and Loving King, Almighty God will give you the power and strength and courage to not fear the moments of weakness so that his strength may be seen.  I pray to our Father that He will move you to come under His everlasting arms of safety and refuge in times of doubt and fear.  I pray that His Holy Spirit will lift you up to live each day as the gift to love and serve Him and others and to let others love you.  I pray that His hand of healing will be the Balm of Gilead to you.

May you be blessed in the knowing that you are cared about and prayed for by people you don't even know but that God has brought you specifically to us.  May God bless you and keep you and your family in His
perfect peace who is Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Love in Christ from a sister in Christ,
Ann Smith, Vero Beach, FL

Dear Owen and Family,
How often you have been in our thoughts, prayers and conversations with our son Bob.  He and Theresa and the boys obviously love you and your family - they too will never give in; their love and prayers and deep concern for you and your loved ones is as solid as granite.
You might not know that my sister, Susan is a pancreatic cancer survivor.  She is a walking miracle and so
are you.
May God continue to walk by your side, may you sense His constant presence and love and please know
that you and your family are always in our prayers too.

Owen,
You have been in our prayers at Memorial for quite some time.  As I read of your diagnosis, and what you've been through so far, and the battle ahead, I can see the spirit and fight of a determined loving young
man.  One who loves his family and all that life has to offer.
I don't think anyone could put it any better than Becky writes about her own fight against this dreaded disease. Keep the spirit, stay positive and know that we at Memorial will continue to keep you uplifted in our prayers every day.  God Bless you, your immediate and extended family during this time.

OWEN--I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY!!!!

Owen,
I hope my email will bring you a little sunshine.  Know that I will lift YOUR name to God and ask for peace, healing and grace through your experiences.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October, 2006.  I have been through chemo treatments, radiation treatments and I am currently taking a milder chemo treatment every 3 weeks until the end of 2007.  It has not been a pleasant experience but one that has opened my heart and mind to others.  It has certainly brought me closer to God and His will for my life.  Through it all, I have come to realize that only God knows when my days will be over on this earth and I will not die until He is ready for me.  So I have decided to "live" until I die.  I try not to worry about the things that are out of my control and turn them all over to Him.  I try to stay alert on my options as far as my health is concerned and I pray for God's guidance on my decisions thereto.

I know you and your family are having to make a lot of adjustments in your life and some days are better than others.  I pray for strength for each of you especially on the low days.  Just know that God loves you and is always there for you, even when you think you are alone in the battle.

God bless you!
Becky Burroughs
